LA Chino Hills Earthquake – JSAKA
For all you recently transplanted Southern Californians….”Welcome to LA NOOBS!” Did y’all feel it? The 5.4 richter scale quake was centered in the beautiful city of Chino Hills and could be felt as far east as Las Vegas and as far south as San Diego. It’s about friggin time we had an earthquake. It’s been so long since we’ve had one. I missed it. So I’m sitting in my g ride at a red light going to get fitted for a tux when my car starts lurching back and forth. My immediate thoughts, “fack is my car stalling or some shit? how much is this going to cost me to fix?”. After about 10 seconds I finally realize “hey wait a minute…we MIGHT be having an earthquake”. So i look around and I see people still walking on the sidewalk like nothing is happening plus i look at the ground and dont’ see any shockwaves rolling through the street. My first clue was when I finally started listening to the radio and Stryker is all freaked out saying “dooood….did you just feel that?”. hahahaha. So indeed it was an earthquake.
I’ve ALWAYS been fascinated by earthquakes. I always enjoyed turning on the TV right after a big quake and watching Dr. Kate Hutton from Caltech explaining to everybody what just happened and that everthing is gonna be a-ok. I even took an earthquakes class at UCLA. I get this sense of euphoria right after the quake is done. All the blood rushes to my face and I feel like i’m high. So naturally, whenever there is a quake, I spring up and stand there feeling the waves passing underneath. It’s a trip no?
So yah, Southern Californians are so funny. It’s bizarre how everybody just goes about their business as if nothing happened. So normal if you live around here i guess. Then you have me with this big goofy grin on my face walking into the tux shop. The only thing i was really worried about was my new tv falling off my dresser. Of course I had to rush back to my apt after and make sure my baby was ok. Thankfully she was still standing there on the dresser when i got back. hahahaha. Ok back to your regular programming……….
PS…so i’m just about to publish this blog when my good friend from middle school Brad texts me “So is Kate Hutton on tv?”. HAHAHAHA. Dude that made my day. How spooky we are STILL after all these years on the same comedic wavelength. hahaha.
