A player once said to me, “A man is only as faithful as their options.”  The tricky part is when “options” are getting close to the STRIKE PRICE.  I am not just referring to guys but to girls equally.  Seriously, is there an industry standard or grace period WHEN YOU CAN EXERCISE YOUR OPTIONS?  Honestly, you guys/gals have all seen it at one point or another, so-so breaks up; within a short period of time they start getting “significant” with someone else.  Even though, technically it’s fine…there’s a voice in your head saying…”sort of fucked up isn’t it?”  That voice I believe is your morale compass.  Yes, we try to justify our actions by dubbing it “a rebound” or “a revenge fuck” but really is it justifiable when you UPGRADE your sides to ENTREE level in matter of weeks or days even?  When I was younger (a very long time ago in a galaxy far far away) and a little naive I never gave much thought about it.  Now that I’ve seen a little more, makes me wonder if HOW LONG that other person was just eating their SIDES the whole time and at most PICKING AT the ENTREE?  I think the minimum should be at least ONE MONTH.  Obviously, how fast you rebound says volumes about you as a person and how special/significant that relationship meant to you.  I say a ONE MONTH GRACE period because 1) WEEK ONE – You mope around and feeling down and out 2) WEEK TWO – You get angry and talk yourself into going out – “Hey, let’s move-on!” 3) WEEK THREE – You realize the SINGLE scene sucks and maybe you’re NOT AS HOT as you use to be because when you were in a relationship ALL you did was EAT and MOVIES! Damn it! Worst part…drunk dialing ”you know who.” when you try to go out and the night was WHACK! 4) WEEK FOUR – You start getting into a routine; gym, hanging out with friends you dissed when you were together, etc.  After all these weeks, you have literally gone through the ups and downs while trying to “kick the habit know as comfort level“  Hopefully, it’s enough time to help you think a little more objectively.  I think by then the leftovers from the meal is cold enough that you can just WARM UP THE SIDES and have that instead. =)  Let me know what you think?  Is that respectable?

I guess like they say great ideas come in clusters. Following the heels of the recent success of MyHouse in Hollywood comes another talked-about-long-awaited venue PLAYHOUSE. This project comes courtesy of Robert Vinokur who is part of the MUSE LIFESTYLE GROUP. The venue aims to inject a little South Beach smack dab in the middle of Hollywood since we already got the “New York” vibe already here.  I guess the next club theme to expect is something from Texas or Hotlanta?

Anyhow, the nearly 13,000-square foot nightclub aims to dazzle clubbers this summer.  The creative look is courtesy of world renown ICRAVE.  Expect name DJs from Europe and a clever 24-hour modern diner concept “Sweet Love Hangover” that clubbers can hit before, after or during their evening.  Can you say a FOREVER WAIT ON YOUR SCRAMBLED EGGS?

The sound system is state of the art and was designed by Dan Agne from Sound Investments.  The lighting system at the Fox was designed by Steve Lieberman of SJ Lighting, known for his work at Tao Las Vegas, Cherry Las Vegas, and Crobar New York.  So technically it’s not only South Beach but New York, Las Vegas, etc.  In other words, don’t feel so bad in regards to popping your $400 priced bottle in this recession because you’re partying as if you’re in NY-Miami-Las Vegas-and of course Hollywood BITCH!

I stumbled across this song and couldn’t help recognize how relevant this topic was especially given the environment I work in.  If you haven’t heard it before the song is called, “Boyfriend Number 2″ by Pleasure P.  The song title is pretty self-explanatory.  Let’s admit it…we all grew up in a “ME” generation environment which means if we’re not happy with our current situation we will do things that will either bring us some temporary happiness or will address our needs with anything that provides immediate gratification. However, we obviously don’t accomplish this in the most positive or morally correct manner. I will be the first to admit; I’m far from a saint. However, from my observations of the girls in the various night life scenes…MAN…fellas you should watch out…two words…COLD BLOODED! I’ve been guilty of hollaring at girls that were spoken for. I have always asked myself if I was so lucky to steal this girl what’s not to say that someone else would end up stealing her also. I’m guessing a fleeting heart will always flutter about. I ask everyone out there IS IT POSSIBLE TO DATE A GIRL that you actually were cheating with and expect her to be faithful to you when in the very first place you met her under dubious circumstances.  Can you realistically expect her to be faithful?  I really want to know.  If you’re in a serious and happy relationship currently but you actually were HER BOYFRIEND #2 at first….I would like to hear your thoughts.  Maybe, you just switched titles because someone else is now BOYFRIEND #2! BTW, the remix version with FLO RIDA is a killer!  I am asking Mike D to rock this Friday @ APPLE.  Check it out!

I came across this recent article regarding NBA basketball star Richard Jefferson who got cold feet and decided to skip out on his wedding with ex-Nets dancer Kesha Nicole Nichols. You would think that one of the most important moments of your life you would really think it through and any possible red flags and hesitation would somehow have gone off. Think about it….the wedding was budgeted at $2 million! So through the countless meetings with the wedding planner, suit outfitting, location scouting, the gazillions of bride outfits he had to give opinions on, etc. you would think that he had a voice in his head “Do I really see myself with this person FOREVER.” Seriously?!, I have a drawn out mental self-debate with myself when I simply want to buy a pair of shoes…let alone WIFE someone, which sort of scares me…man I’m afraid of being THAT Uncle in the family that’s always single…anyhow, that’s for another blog entry. Yeah, the crazy part was no one knew that the whole thing was canceled. The guests ended up showing up thinking there was a wedding. Can you imagine explaining that to oh…..EVERYONE YOU HAVE EVER KNOWN. Imagine the set-back and humiliation of once-could’ve been Mrs. Jefferson. She was probably thinking like a week ago….”I JUST WON THE LOTTO…BITCHES” All of a sudden, BOOM…PSYCH! It’s reported that Richard Jefferson gave his Black Am Ex card to his groomsmen and told them to just show everyone a good time with it. Can you imagine going to a bar or club and it’s like ALRIGHT LET’S JUST POP BOTTLES on Rich’s dime. Man, imagine being that girl’s rebound lay! No pun intended! I bet if she was a LAKER girl this wouldn’t have happened. If she was a LA Laker girl she would had told Richard if you don’t marry me I am going to sue you for emotional duress and write a tell-all memoir of being a NBA dancer. YEZZIR!

As most of you may already know, I’m a big fan of KPOP and was stoked when I heard WheeSung was going to perform LIVE at HALO Saturdays. He’s not as big as Bi (Rain), but he has quite a following as described by Scottie Rock in an earlier blog. We landed him after his performance at Le Cercle the week prior and our promotions went full force soon after which resulted in an amazing event to remember. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a live performance like this at HALO and the masses came out in full effect to welcome WheeSung. Especially the ladies. I came at 9:20pm to set things up and there was already a mob outside waiting. As the night progressed, I could easily notice the crazy fans in attendance waiting to get a glimpse of WheeSung. Girls came dressed all sexy with signs, glow sticks, and etc. just to rock out with him. It was completely surreal.

Anyway, check out the video we captured below which shows WheeSung performing his current hit single “Insomnia”. Can you believe the girls in the front swooning and trying to touch him? Wow. I better take notes from him, but I guess I have to learn how to sing first, huh?

Truthfully, my feelings about Kanye West is mixed.  I don’t think he’s necessarily a great rapper or lyricist at least not consistently, nor does he dance, nor sing well at all, but yet the guy still manages to be quite a performer.  It’s almost as if his lack of talent in all the various realms is compensated by his ability to constantly remake himself as an entertainer packaged with various looks, gimmicks, fashion statements etc. transforming himself to a bonafide star.  One word….DRIVEN.  Last night, I saw the VH1 Story Teller show.  The set design on that show BLEW ME AWAY.  I am sure Kanye had some input on that set.  Again, he has successfully packaged the set design, with the songs, and attire in creating a successful performance AGAIN! Despite the bad singing or bad auto-tune…whatever you call it. Interesting note: In the flashing light performance (the second video) in the end he sort of confesses as expected with any of the artist during these performances what the song means and what inspired them to write the song. As expected, he confessed how you would imagine Kanye to confess. However, with this portion he actually seemed genuine…that the scrutiny of the “flashing lights” have brought upon him has created as much pain as the fame he also relishes.

Wheesung began his career in 1999 with the short lived Korean boy band, A4. He left after the band’s first album debut, citing musical differences between himself and the other members of the band. After being released from A4, he signed onto M Boat, a former sister company to YG Entertainment. He underwent a few years of vocal training under the label and released his first solo album Like A Movie in 2002. The album became very popular after receiving praise from many well-known artists, including Seo Taiji and Shin Seung Hun. In 2003, he released his second album, It’s Real. It proved to be as popular as his first, making him the best selling artist of 2003 in Korea. Unlike his debut album, It’s Real wasn’t restricted to R&B and it included different musical elements like pop and hip-hop. Wheesung left YG Entertainment after his contract expired in March 2006. He signed a new contract that is reportedly worth 1.5 million won with his new company Orange Shock Agency. It was stated that he will be composing and producing more with his new company giving him more freedom to do so.
In late 2008, Wheesung was asked by British R&B artist Craig David to record the Korean version of his hit single Insomnia. The music video was released on February 17, 2009 and Wheesung’s comeback performance was broadcast by Mnet on February 19.
Wheesung had participated in several Kpop concerts in Los Angeles, CA, which include the Hollywood Bowl, and the Victory Concert. On June 19, 2009, Wheesung and Lena Park held a concert in LA Disney Concert Hall. [2] After the concert, Wheesung planned to stay in LA for one month to work on his new album with producer Lee Hyun-do. The new album will go back to the r&b/hiphop style similar to “With Me” and “Incurable Disease”. The new album is set to be released in August 2009. Wheesung also claimed in an interview that he wants to pay Pink’s Hot Dog for a visit while he’s still in LA. On June 27 and July 4, Wheesung will have an “Insomnia Concert” in LA in club Le Cercle. It scares small children, horrifies all heterosexual males, and sends fashionistas into fits of rage.  What am i talking about?  Yep you probably guessed it right, The Asian Lady Sun Visor!

As we cruise into my favorite season of the year (Summer), I have seen more and more instances of this fashion crime.  I understand that many Asian women want to stay white and non tanned but how much is too much?  I’ve seen ladies on a sun splashed summer day covered head to toe in pants, sweater, and one of these ridiculous looking things on their heads.  You would think it’s 40 degrees outside and cloudy.  2 images come to mind:

So let’s look at the Pros and Cons of these Asian sun visors:

PROS:
1) No Tanned Skin – This could be a pro or con but i’m listing it as a pro because this is from the point of view of the Asian Sun Visor supporter.  Apparently in most Asian cultures (ok just China, Korea, Taiwan, and Japan), extremely fair skin is a sign of wealth.  All the poor people work out in the fields and consequently have tanned skin.  So I guess this means that all the East Asian women think that you Vietnamese, Filipino, Thai, Cambodian, and Laotian people are poor as dirt!
2)  Skin Health – Every dimwit knows that the sun is bad for your skin.  It ages the skin and also gives you sunspots.
3)  Privacy – Ok i’m grasping for straws here because I dont’ see any other real legitimate reasons to have this contraption.  Maybe you don’t want people to know who you are?
4) ??? – Ok I’m out of Pros.  If you have any leave a comment and PLEASE do let me know.

CONS:
Ok how long do I have?  Hah!
1)  Looks – Simply put, it looks ridiculous.  Women, you are all beautiful creatures.  Why hide behind a mask?
2)  Scares Kids – Think back to when you were 3 or 4 years old.  If a group of these beings with masks came up to you, do you think you would go reach for a hug?  Of course not.  You would run away screaming in terror.  Next time you ladies put one of these things on, please THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
3)  Health Hazard – I can’t imagine it’s safe to drive or walk around with this thing on.  I would think you wouldn’t be able to see well plus it could fog up?  All of you Asian women are horrible drivers to begin with so you need every advantage possible, not a giant obstruction in front of your face.
4)  Old Lady Accessory – I associate this contraption with old asian women who smell of mothballs.  Anyone younger than 30 wearing these things should be tied up and stoned.
5)  Your Boyfriend/Husband Will Hate You – If he’s a real cool guy, he might not say it to your face, but trust me on this, he will be crying inside.  Nobody wants to be seen holding hands with Boba Fett from Star Wars.

My final thought is this.  Independence Day has just passed and we celebrated the FREEDOM that we possess in our country.  Since we have this freedom, why would women over here want to emulate women in parts of the world where these certain freedoms don’t even exist.  I see women in these face masks and think that in effect, they are basically wearing a burka:

Just like anyone, I thoroughly enjoy a good music video with spectacular gorgeous video vixens.  Unfortunately, MTV has become too good to be showing videos anymore.  I think they should just drop the M…and replace with SRTV…Semi-Reality TV or better yet Sponsored-Reality TV.  I guess I will save the ranting for another entry next time.  Anyhow, I came across so good old fashion Video Vixen hotness so I felt I should go ahead and share with the rest of fellas out there!  I am proud to admit I love watching the it especially the hip-hop and rap videos.  Such guilty pleasure…but so enjoyable.

The first video is one of those songs you hear all the time at the clubs but just don’t know who sings it. I bet once you see the video you would be…THAT’S RIGHT! You would surprise HOW BANGING these girls look. The group is called Paradiso Girls Featuring Lil Jon and Eve with the song PATRON TEQUILA . This group looks like your standard formula girl band, but they’re quite a formula! You can tell the mastermind which is will.I.am. actually had a flavor for every consuming taste bud. The jury is still out if these girls can really sing LIVE…but I guess who cares if you’re REALLY GOOD LOOKING. Here’s there site if you want to secretly sign up for their fan club….

Now this next video is by an artist named Drake who is signed to Lil Wayne’s record label as well as Kanye West I believe. I have never seen so much hype surrounding this individual as I have with this artist since Alicia Keyes. He hasn’t even produced a complete album yet and he’s already performed at the BET award. I actually heard of his name before from my boy Mike Danger who frequently flys out and spins in Toronto which is his hometown. Anyway…digression! This video was directed by Kanye West. Don’t be fooled by the low-budget feel. It is obivous Mr. West was getting back to the classic roots of beautiful ladies and good music. I think his inspiration is from his college theme oriented albums – College Dropout etc. Also, notice the sense of humor he plugs in there. “Take THAT D!…Take ALL OF IT….”
